DESIGN ENGINEERING
Every commercial assumption traces back to a calculation.
What We Offer
A financial model is only as sound as the engineering underneath it. Yield figures, equipment specifications and construction costs are not inputs to be assumed — they are outputs of design work.
We produce that design work in-house. The same engineers who model the resource specify the equipment, size the electrical system and estimate the cost. There is no interpretation layer between the technical reality of a project and the numbers an investor or a lender sees.
Feasibility and Yield Modelling
Resource assessment using long-term irradiation and wind datasets, shading analysis, temperature and soilia loss modelling, and layout optimisation against the site's actual geometry.
We produce P50 and P90 yield estimates with the loss assumptions stated openly. A yield figure without its loss breakdown is not a result; it is a claim.
Layout and Configuration
Module selection, string configuration, row spacing and tilt angle, tracker or fixed-tilt assessment, and DC/AC ratio optimisation.
These decisions interact. Tighter row spacing raises capacity per hectare and increases inter-row shading. A higher DC/AC ratio improves shoulder-hour output and introduces clipping. Where land is constrained, where connection capacity is capped, and where the price curve peaks all change the right answer. We model the combinations rather than applying a default.
Electrical Design
Complete electrical engineering from module to grid connection point.
DC systems — string design, cable sizing, voltage drop calculation, combiner and protection layout.
Inverter and AC systems — inverter selection and placement, AC collection design, cable routing and losses.
Medium and high voltage — transformer stations, switchgear configuration, single-line diagrams, protection coordination and metering arrangements to the operator's specification.
Transmission — overhead and underground connection infrastructure to the connection point.
Earthing and lightning protection — designed to IEC standards and to the resistance values required by the local system operator.
Storage System Design
Battery sizing against the actual objective, not against a regulatory minimum.
Power rating, energy capacity and duration are three separate decisions with three different cost consequences. Arbitrage value depends on capacity. Ancillary service revenue depends on power. Regulatory compliance often specifies both. We size the system against the revenue model the project is being built for, and state what each configuration costs and returns.
Also covered: PCS selection, DC- versus AC-coupled architecture, thermal management, fire safety systems and grid code compliance.
SCADA, Control and Monitoring
Plant control architecture, remote dispatch capability, data acquisition, and the communication interface to the system operator.
Across the region, operators now require real-time active power control, reactive power regulation, redundant power supply for control equipment and IEC 60870-5-104 compliant data transmission. These are conditions of energisation, not optional extras. We design them into the plant rather than retrofitting them at commissioning.
Civil and Structural Design
Mounting structure specification, foundation design against local wind and snow zones, geotechnical review, site access roads, drainage, fencing and security infrastructure.
Technical Due Diligence
For investors evaluating an existing project or an operating asset, we conduct independent technical review: design verification, yield model validation, equipment condition assessment, permit and compliance review, and identification of the assumptions that will not hold. This is owner-side work. We report what we find.
Full design packages prepared to national standards, submitted for technical review and revision, and issued for construction.
